Several weeks ago I’d commented on my initial ride into Prescott.  Sharp curves, interesting drops, etc. along route 89 from the south.  Well, as you continue out of Prescott and set your sites on Jerome, Cottonwood, & Sedona you’ll have another interesting ride.  Today’s podcast shows you a little of the ride.

For my 2 cents, I wouldn’t want to tow along 89A toward Jerome.  The road signs suggest that anything under 50 feet is ok.  Going through Jerome I’d have to say nothing over 25 feet!

Cute town, neat ride, and an enjoyable day.  But I’ll take the longer route just to avoid towing on 89A.  :)

  1. Hey Rich, Aunt Sandy said that she had talked to you and said that you will be living in Arizona. Right. Just keep in touch and be careful on your travels. Love You

  2. Hey Rich, doing 89A to Jerome surely is a video, not a podcast! My cousin, who is about my age, but who grew up in Williams, tells about SR89 (then, US 89, by God) coming into Prescott from the south in winter; it was the only paved road from the Valley of Death to northern Arizona in those days. He said that jackknifed semis regularly blocked the highway when there had been a snow storm or big freeze over-night. The only thing one could do coming thru the Prietas is sit there patiently.

  3. Honestly, 89A is a video. I had so much video driving in there, and spent hours cutting a lot out. That’s what happens with each podcast! I’ve got backup DVD’s full of amazing scenes. Maybe someday I’ll wrap them up into a big video of traveling the country (you should see Teton Pass).

Going through Jerome is quite the ride. I’ve done it several times in the past few weeks. But I will not do it with my trailer in tow! No thank you. I can imagine jackknifes along that route. When I first came into Prescott along 89 I saw a wrecked motorcycle and ambulance picking up the driver. Quite the road indeed!

    Rich
