Snowed.

Go ahead, get your giggles in. :) It was light, it was quick, but it did snow here. Eeeeek!

This morning it was beautiful, blue skies, the whole package. The temperatures were moving up, and it looked to be another picture perfect day. I stayed in the Airstream for a while moving video off the Sony, and when I went back outside the temperature had dropped massively. Gray clouds were rolling in, and stuff was coming out of the sky. At first it wasn’t rain. Ah well. Sure Rich Luhr will get a kick out of this one. :)

Bouldering was postponed due to rain / snow / cold gray stuff going on.  Maybe tomorrow.  Probably a light bike ride too.

For the afternoon I had one event scheduled.  The Blogfest at the Raven.  As usual, I arrived way too early, so I wandered around the town again.  Of course, another event was going on in the center of town (really always something happening here).  Stopped by one pavilion and listened to a band play (got some video too), walked around, and enjoyed the atmosphere.  Finally, I made my way to the Raven.

I was still a little early, so I headed up and ordered another mint tea.  Big fan of the mint tea at the Raven.  Need to find some for the Airstream.  Ah, but if I did that I’d miss out on visiting the cafe on a regular basis.

The gathering was great, and I met many of the local bloggers.  What an interesting mix of people!  I’ve been reading through their blogs the past few days, and I’ve enjoyed each one a lot.  Nice to meet everyone in person to match up with their web sites.  Think we all probably fit closely with what we post.  :)

Andrew (the organizer of the gathering) asked us if we’d each like to take a little time for a radio interview.  I believe just about everyone said yes.  Fun experience!  I went after Granny J, and I’ve got to say, hard act to follow.  She’s got some great stories (so, you should stop by her website).  So glad she contacted me the other week after finding my site!  I really enjoyed meeting everyone, and it was a fun change of pace.

Below you’ll see a photo of the gathering, and of the Raven Cafe.  Like I’ve said the past few weeks, I’m really happy to have the Raven available for the moments I need some extra thru-put.  :)  And they’ve got good mint tea as well!

Now I’m off to make something for dinner.  Not sure what yet.  Afterward I’ll be packing and straightening a little.  See, tomorrow I’m hooking up the trailer……

Ah, is he leaving Prescott???

No.  Somebody booked site 83 months ago (guess it’s their favorite), and I need to move to site 95.  The Airstream will probably go into shock when I hook up.  Been here nearly 2 months now!  It’s one of the longest stops in my travels.  Florida doesn’t count!  :)  But I’m still happy to have found this town and community, and I’m looking forward to remaining here.  Just in site 95 now instead of 83.  :)

OK. This is sort of round about. Back in the late ’70s, I was an active square dancer here in San Diego. I met a fellow who was an ‘adopted’ son of Charles (I think) Lamb, of Lamb Chevrolet here. My friend wasn’t really adopted, but he might as well have been as he spent a lot of time with the Lamb family. He invited me to meet the Lambs, which I did. That turned into an invitation to fly with them in the family plane to Prescott for a long weekend. I accepted. They were a most gracious couple. Their son ran the Prescott store, as they called it and the son’s wife had a gift shop there. They were living in a double wide trailer in a park on the outskirts of town while they were waiting for their new house to be built. My square dancer friend was the interior designer. My friend and I then went into town to for a little square dancing that took place in the plaza in front of the statue in your photo. I’m sure Mr. & Mrs. Lamb have passed on by now as they were in their late 60s then. Lamb Chevrolet here in San Diego has gone, I believe. I lost touch with my square dancer friend, too. I have been through Prescott since then and remembered the Lambs and their lovely hospitality. Your photo brought back those memories. I’m glad to know the Lamb dealership is still there and continues to be reputable.

    Sandybee,

Well, not very round about at all. And I’m glad to help along a memory! :) Your story gave me a smile.

There’s something special here in Prescott. I was able to experience more of it today meeting with residents of the town at the blogfest. A great group of people, and a wonderful community. Honestly, there’s a little bit of everything here, and we all need that!

Still, I’d really like one of the cute lamb stickers. Seen them all over town now, and my Titan is sorely lacking the cute sticker! :)

    Mike,

Great meeting you today too! I’m sorry we didn’t get to talk cameras more. I’ve been through your site a lot the past few weeks, and every picture has been fantastic. Oh, can you do me a favor? Your friend who came along…..I’d like his photo link as well.

Look forward to talking again in the near future!

Ahhh…springtime in Prescott. It is crazy here, we always say, “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes” and it’s also why we usually dress in layers, so then we can add or subtract as the weather dictates.

And, there is usually something going on during the summer in the down town area (sometimes I think it’s a little much, but then again, owning a business in town does make one more aware of the lack or supposed lack of parking)

Good luck with the move too…

Much of the rain here starts out as snow, so never be surprised at a little of the white stuff — almost any time of the year. Just remember our elevation; there’s no such thing as a warm rain in Prescott…

Thanks for the nice words; was great to get a chance to meet the different local bloggers. Such a splendid mix of people and interests.

BTW, did you get the URL for the little girl?

“If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes.” Always heard that in New England. Here’s the fun thing….. After a year of traveling the country, I have heard that expression in every state I’ve stopped. I guess we all have ever changing weather. :)
