Yesterday was a busy one. A little fun, a little work, etc.
Some of my new friends own a local business. And they were having issues with their computer network at their place of business. I popped by to take a look. The setup was simple. Video monitoring system, router, cable modem. Nothing in the rocket scientist category.
They’ve had other consultants in, with no results. Actually, the last one said he’d be back, needed to look into something, and never returned. So there was a little skepticism as to whether or not I’d find the issue. :) Not too much though! Kidding of course.
When the issue was initially described to me, I thought it was the router. It wasn’t. The video system had reset itself, and lost its IP address. Took all of 15 minutes to figure that out.
After working out the issue I pondered independent network consulting in this town once more. The person who set up their system is no longer in business. Other folks failed to diagnose an extremely simple issue. Seems like an open field to me…… Never started such a venture before, so I need to do some more learning.
Once the network investigation was over we headed out to Lynx Lake Recreation area. Yet another rec area within the Prescott area. This place is loaded. Our ride for the afternoon was along trail # 305. I’d ridden it previously, and really hurt myself learning what an intermediate trail is like around here. Yesterday I took my time, and came away with no scrape, bruises, on any other injuries.
We only did half of the main trail ride as we didn’t get under way until almost 4 p.m. Not enough time to do the 14 mile loop.
Temperatures had cooled off yesterday, so the riding was nice. Strong winds too! To me it felt like a nice late spring ride, and I enjoyed it.
Today should be fun. My friend Kesley is coming in this evening and spending the weekend. We’ll run all over with cameras looking for a list of things to shoot. Next week there might be some interesting photos here….. you’ll just have to stop in and see. ![]()

Um…the computer consultant idea? Yeah, that’s a good one…perhaps I’ve heard it somewhere before (tee-hee) I know some uber-talented creative girlies who happen to specialize in PR who could possibly get the word out there in this town (yeah, we have big mouths too)
Hope the soreness of the ride wears off soon…of course, the excitement of seeing Kesley will perk up the tiredness won’t it? I, for one, am looking forward to new pictures…
An area trip I’d recommend is up 89A up to the top of Mingus, then the forest road (on the right) further up the top to the place where the hang gliders launch. Busiest, most action on the weekend. The side of Mingus facing the Verde
is very, very steep & great as a jumping off point.
i am telling you, there is a gold mine here. i do sidework by referal and you should see some of the no-braner messes i clean up that the “other guys” did. if i had the time i would go for it full speed ahead. i would have no problem sending people your way.
