A short time ago I made my way back to Point of Rocks. Things were really getting warm downtown, and it was time to seek out some AC for a while. Since I’m back in the trailer and cooling off I thought I’d take time to post some initial photos, and a report back on the festival!

Like the Tsunami on the Square, this festival sure has drawn a crowd as well. License plates were from all over. Very impressive! Some folks were even dressed to the 9’s in some pretty slick western wear, complete with some interesting side arms!

I wandered around the courthouse before the main event started, and everywhere I looked people were carrying banjos, guitars, & violins. Wow! The main performers definitely had a crowd, but behind the courthouse there were several small circles of people playing together. Folks would wander in and start playing with the rest of the group, and then wander out once more!

That’s some unrehearsed music for sure. And it sounded good! Just wait for the podcast all.

Clyde Score MC’d the event. The groups playing today are as follows:
- Elliot’s Ramblers (got to see them at 11:00)
- Desperate Measures (saw them at 11:45)
- Palmer Divide
- The Kirby Knob Boys
- Fire Ridge
- Randy Waller and the Country Gentlemen
There’s the list gang!

Hope you’re enjoying the photos too! What would be better of course would be swinging by Prescott yourself on your next road trip. This place has something for everyone. Be sure to bring your own water.
Uh, that was a joke by the way…..

Looks like a blast! Can’t wait to hear the music. Does this happen every year in Prescott? And where can I get a Tilley hat like yours? Are you going to get the new Cannon soon–so you can give the other one away??
Oh it was hot down there wasn’t it? Luckily living in AZ you seem to bring your own water everywhere don’t you (of course, mostly I get mine from my faucet, so I don’t know if that counts
) I am excited for tonight as well…less sun, and more fun music…and maybe a dance or two? hint hint…
Yes, you do wear the Tilly well…and I was thinking that I may need to pick up a hat myself. Before we started palling around, I don’t remember spending this much time outside (ok, just kidding) but, I’m thinking a little trip to a hat store would be good (maybe in Sedona, and you could show me that new Cannon?)
Happens every year in Prescott.
As far as the Tilley….Manzanita Outdoors carries them here. Many other places to, so I’m sure you’ll find one.
Finally, the new Canon. Yeah, not this week. My 10D is doing great, so no swapping in the near future.
