Gadget’s Airstream Chronicles

Today I’m really getting into all the little check list items before moving the Airstream out again.  At 10:00 I have an appointment at Lamb Nissan again, this time only for an oil change.  There’s the first item.

Once I return I’ll be rechecking all the lugs on the wheels of the trailer.  You need to do that often.  Tire pressure checks too, and airing up any that are under 65lbs.

Inside the trailer I’ve already started putting everything away.  And wouldn’t you know, I’ve accumulated some extra junk during my time here.  There are several extra books that weren’t here when I arrived.  And they do take some space!  What have I been reading?  A PHP programming book, a Mac technician book, Macintosh Unix book, 2 digital photography books, and several outdoor guidebooks used for identifying all the lizards and birds I’ve seen here. 

In addition to my book buying binge, there are other “new items” with me.  Over the past few months my dad has shipped my climbing gear, a few gear bags, and other items.  Just a few extra bags in a 25 foot trailer causes a lot of re-arranging!  I think most of those items will end up in the back seat of the truck!

Now I’m sure some readers are asking, “Don’t you organize everything in the trailer already?  What’s to put away?”  Yes, I keep things organized here.  But when I get ready to travel I move things around.  On the road items shift.  When you arrive at your new destination items “jump out” at you from the cabinets.  So, make sure that the items that jump out don’t crack you on the head! 

In addition to the Airstream prep I’ve also been doing a lot of shopping.  Since I don’t know Colorado Springs I don’t know the grocery stores in the area.  Might as well make sure I’ve got what I like along with me for the ride! 

So, today will be a “busy work” day.  A little exciting too!  The trailer hasn’t left Point of Rocks in 4 months (as of tomorrow).  So, it will be fun getting back on the road for another road trip.  The mixed feelings are still there, but there is some excitement regarding the trip and the position.
