Today was a Sedona day. Initially I was going to go cycling with Andy & Brooke, but yesterday I got to thinking about my lens and the junk in it, and the fact that I hadn’t been to Sedona since the return from Colorado. So last night I gave Andy a buzz and let him know I’d be hitting Sedona instead (sorry Andy).

By 9 the Airstream was behind me, and Jerome was ahead of me. No Jerome photos this time around, just passing through. The plan was simple. Do a hike or two, look for a collared lizard (I want more photos), tour around Sedona, and get my lens checked out at the shop in Sedona. Sadira was kind enough to join me on the trek, and it was a fun day! Thanks for coming along!

We hit Doe Mesa, and took a walk up that trail. I’d done it months ago as well, and was fortunate enough to come across 2 collared lizards that day on the way up and on the way back. I thought maybe, just maybe, the lizards would be in the area again. The rocks they were on last time seemed perfect and well suite to lizard lounging. Today though I had no luck on the lizard front. Ah well, it was worth a shot.

Once on top of the mesa we had some great views. And we were regularly buzzed by helicopter tours and bi-plane tours as well. I bet a tour like that would be a lot of fun, especially the bi-plane!

After the fun hike at Doe Mesa we headed into town. The camera shop was next. Of course, when we hit town there was a detour. I saw a sign that caught my attention. “World of Jerky.” Oh yeah! We hit that shop first. Nothing as good as Vermont Beef Jerky Company, but better than the generic stuff I’ve been finding!

After the jerky store we hit the camera store. The guys there agreed, there was lint inside the lens. How’d that get there? We all figured it happened during manufacture. And it seems the lens is not well sealed. I’ll be shipping it back to Canon shortly. Sorry Canon, my first “defective” item I’ve ever gotten from you. That’s ok, you’ve still got a good track record with me.

Once finished with the camera shop we did a little more touring, but not much. We were both spent, and had a long ride back. So, called it a day and got home by 3:30. Whew! Good day!

  1. Thank you again for the amazing Sunday! I honestly can’t remember a more relaxing (weird to say with all the activity that was happening, but relaxing it was) and enjoyable Sunday. I needed it after the week I had…and you know I’d go to Sedona any time with you…

Boyton Canyon and vortex hopping next?

    hint hint ;)

  2. Great pictures, my favorite is the very first one. It seems as if it’d make a great wallpaper.

  3. Thanks. Glad you liked the first. That was taken last night while hiking the Peavine Trail in Prescott. The rocks are the Granite Dells. Most of my photos last night were deleted. Bad lighting. But heading out the sun finally came through and offered a different view back to the Dells. :)

Hmmm, Boynton Canyon Sadira? Sounds good to me. Last time I was there I was with Bob, and that was and experience! LOL. Watch out for those vortex areas….. :)

  4. World of Jerky? I”ll have to tell my future son-in-law about that place… He’s addicted to jerky!

  5. Wow - you’re really getting amazing with your photography! Nicely done. Sounds like a very nice day.

  6. Thanks Paula! Haven’t heard from you in a long time! Where are you guys now? Oh, wait, I’ll go check your blog! :)

  7. I am not sure if Vermont’s beef jerky would be as good as Texas’ Best beef jerky, but it sure does sound tasty!

  8. Uh, Shari……. yes, we’ve been friends for a while….. and that’s why I’m being nice. :)

VT beef jerky beats all. I’ve yet to come across anything better…and yes, I’ve been to Texas. You’ll have to prove to me there’s something better!

Of course, your hubby’s hot chilli showed me something new, so maybe TX jerky will win, but I have very strong doubts.

Many years ago I learned that not everything from Texas was as big and bold as Texans believed (a tribute to a lad named LoneStar). So, we’ll have to see.
