prescott-4.jpgThis morning I had several errands to run. Some banking (contract work is good sometimes), propane refill (oh, I haven’t done that yet), and a few stops into shops. The camera came along as well.

Today I had the “photo bug” urge. For some reason I wanted to find a really cool door to shoot. Unfortunately I didn’t find the door I was looking for. So I satisfied myself instead with some windows, walls, and a few interesting sets of shingles. Some of these items will certainly fly with the stock site.

In my wanderings I stopped by the museum downtown again. It’s a nice area, pleasant flower gardens, and a lot of Arizona history. The original governor’s mansion (a log cabin), an original fort building, and some old pieces of steam engine machinery. Pretty cool stuff.

As always, the sky today is a vivid blue. That’s pretty much the norm around here. Well, I’m going to guess more than 75% of the days here have super blue skies. I’ll leave it to a meteorologist to correct me.

After my little photo session I realized that more than 3 hours had passed in wandering, so I’ve popped back to the Airstream. A little lunch, then I’ll do the propane refill. After that, who knows. Probably sort some more photos (shocking).

Today’s photo gallery includes a few things I like so far……..

Oh, the photo out the window was taken from a small log cabin school house (in case you’re curious).

  1. Beautiful pictures Rich…did you know that the school house over at Sharlott Hall is a “replica” of the original first school house in Prescott…yet, it never ceases to amaze me that when I look at the replicated building and the picture of the original one they have hanging in it…they look NOTHING alike…it is very confusing. OH…and Sharlott Hall…the big green and brown house in that photo up there, was moved from “Snob Hill” (Union Street) to make room for the jail…my EX remembered as a kid, the day it was moved…I guess most of the town at the time turned up to watch them drive it down to the present location…

  2. i love architectural photos. one of these days i will return to chillecothe ohio, the original capitol of ohio. there are some absolutely amazing doors on houses there.

  3. Glad you liked the photos. Still, I didn’t find the door I was looking for, but some really great windows and reflections. They’re not in the gallery on this page, but I’m submitting them to Dreamstime first. I think a few will be selected. We’ll see.

Rowan, looked through your gallery. Some nice shots in there. :)

  4. There’s that house I loved so much! Great shot! Too bad it’s not for sale. I’d buy it in a heartbeat and move out there before you could say “beach”!

  5. thank you for the compliment. i still have much to learn about photography.

the majority of the images were taken with an HP Photosmart 945. i like that it has a 8x optical zoom / 56x digital zoom. don’t know what i will do when it breaks. they do not have a comparable one available for replacement.

if you ever wander through ohio, definitely cruise through chillecothe. incredible doors. carved. stained glass. beveled glass. iron work. simply beautiful.

  6. Keep shooting Rowan! Oh, and have you checked out any of the Canons? I use an SD550 (an Elph, very small), an EOS 10 D, and a 30D. The image quality on the Canons is fantastic!

  7. i have been debating the Rebel and the EOS 40D, but i suspect a 30D if i could find one would be really nice.

the powershot SD1000 is also looking good for something to have at hand at all times. that is my biggest issue with the HP. it is too large to stick in my pocket.

i recently bought an encyclopedia of flowers/plants in order to better categorise the pics i have taken. if i am going to try to submit to dreamstime, i want to have accurate tags.
