Actually, the thermostat is probably like a haircut...I don't know how many times I've said, "that's it! I'm getting a haircut...I can't stand it anymore, my hair looks horrible..." and after I call to make an appointment, my hair is darned near perfect...but, as soon as you cancel an appointment? Whatever it is, will most certainly act up again...so, you'd still better call the repairman...because sure as shootin' the thermostat is biding it's time...
