Anticipation is building
Posted by: Rich in Notes from Gadget, Photo of the Day, airstream6 days. Only 6 more days and I’ll be hitched up and rolling to Anza-Borrego.
How am I dealing with all this pent up energy and excitement? Well, I’m getting ready. Extra ready. Super ready. More ready than I can even describe (I need to grab a thesaurus).
Yesterday I wrapped up the big preparations. A visit to my local Fry’s hit me for almost $90. The supplies I picked up are 100% for the trip. My pantry is over flowing! No kidding, it’s full. The fridge is too.
In addition to the Fry’s visit I also popped by Wal-Mart to re-fill my medications. Can’t run out of my Protonix while in AB. That would go over poorly.
Oh, and I got a haircut. You need to look presentable when visiting a favorite spot. You know, in case you meet a big horn sheep and you want to get a photo of them. Bad hair days could scare off your photo subject!
I’m not the only one who is excited. There’s been a flurry of e-mails between my friends Bill, Larry, and myself. We’re closing in on daily e-mails, so I know we’re all excited! Plus Bill & Larry will be bringing their new Mac! Ah yes, they’ve converted to Mac! No worries, this won’t be a Mac conference in the desert. But you might see a few photos of Macs in the desert. It just might happen. :) I’m thinking 4 macs with a desert palm backdrop…….
So, the Airstream is almost completely ready. Tires have been filled, lug nuts checked and tightened, and the interior has been getting a travel ready overhaul. Little else to do now but sit back and wait to hit the road.
The plan…..hitch up the trailer after work on Wednesday. Be on the road by 6 a.m. Thursday. The ride should be about 6 hours in total, so I’ll be in CA early afternoon setting up. If I’m not too tired, maybe a quick hike up into Palm Canyon just to see what’s new along the trail.
Well, that’s about it for the morning. Too distracted to even talk economics today! I’m sure many readers are happy about that! ![]()

Hi Richard,
Nice meeting you and thanks for your video advice! Have a great time on your trip. When you have a chance visit my blogsite at blog.prescottfinehomes.net.
Tim,
Nice meeting you too! No trouble on the video advice, I’m always happy to help. Podcasting is fairly easy, and extremely useful. I think what you’re looking to do with it will enhance your web following, so I’ll look forward to seeing your videos in the near future!
Good luck with it!
Well, the economy just got a boost by our buying of trip supplies, fuel, and the beautiful aluminum MacBook Pro, which can hardly wait to hitch a ride in the Airstream Safari out to the desert for it’s first post from the field!
Hooray Bill!
Hey, the economy needs a little more. Get 5 or 6 more Macbooks. Maybe a Canon 40D just to be safe!
Can’t wait….6 days!
Awesome! Looks like a right pretty place to hang out for some piece of mind time.
Hi there~
Anticipation is building on this end too! Can’t wait to see the photos.
I couldn’t find an e-mail address for you on the site. Could you get in touch with me at Private E-mail Address? I’m doing some work for GSMVehicles and you have information I need.
Cheers~

Honestly…I don’t know why you haven’t put a trip countdown banner in your sidebar yet…
I hope it’s not raining when you are in Anza Borrego…or bad hair won’t be the only thing you have to worry about!
Charon,
Just sent you a private e-mail, and edited your address out. No spam generate from here.
Spammers pick e-mail addresses out of blog posts so I always protect against that.
Let me know what’s up with GSM!
WooooooHooooooo, 5 day and so many hours until Anza-borrego. Best part, 3 new podcasts at minimum!!!!!!!
Look at the sexy shots of the airstreams… Makes me smile.
Gee Richard… You sound like you’re excited or something….. Are we looking forward to the trip to A-B?
