While you might think that I’ve been operating in a strange haze, think again.  I’m not talking about myself.  I’m talking about the air here the past few days.

I just rechecked pollen.com.  Prescott is looking pretty good according to that site.  Yet over the past week we’ve seen a strange haze floating over the mountains and hanging in the sky.  It’s noticeable.  The mountains in the distance are muted, almost blotted out at points.

I’ve heard a range of reasons for this odd phenomena…..

  • Pollen
  • Water vapor
  • Dust due to the high winds
  • A controlled burn in the distance (I can’t confirm that one).

Whatever it is, it is bothering me a bit.  And other people are having some allergy issues too.  Hmmmm….who knows what it is.

Yesterday I complained about the haze to my friend Josh.  He agreed, it’s been annoying. He hasn’t taken outdoor photos in a while because the sky and horizon is too muted for anything good.  Ah yes, that’s where the pictures have been.  :)  Hidden behind a haze!

Once things clear I’ll get some more fun photos up.  In the meantime….well, go take a look at Burt’s blog, he always has cool photos.  :)

  1. achoo…achoo…achoo…

    cough…splutter…(labored intake of breath)

I am finding myself quite bothered by this “haze” of which has been blotting out our long distance landscaping…Honestly? I can’t figure out whether I’m sick, or I’m allergies, or now it’s one moving into the other? All I know is, I’m tired, and quite cranky…which is making me sad and confused…(and wanting to hand a written disclaimer to everyone I may come into contact with…or hide inside a small HEPA’d area)

    waaaaah… :(

    see what I mean?

(and it’s not even Cottonwood season yet)
