So, you’ve seen the teaser photo from yesterday. Another day spent at Lamb Nissan. Just the other week I had the truck serviced. So, what gives?
Simple, I needed a vehicle with better mileage. If you haven’t noticed, gas prices are up. Also, if you haven’t noticed, I run around a lot especially when I’m looking for the right photo!
Several weeks ago I tried out the Nissan Versa and the Toyota Yaris. I wanted to try a Honda Fit as well, but it wasn’t in the cards. The local Honda dealer didn’t have any in, and couldn’t pin down when they’d have one available to test.
Rather than picking a car I waited a few weeks. Honda called and explained they had gotten 2, and immediately sold them. No idea when I could test a car…….
I definitely don’t want to order a car sight unseen. I know, Hondas are good, but still, you’ve got to check it out, don’t you?
So, yesterday morning I decided to head to Nissan. The laundry room was full and I needed something to do! :) Why not recheck the Versa? Why not get the Versa?
The Titan is still with me. No trades here, just a new car. Now I’m sure people are asking, “Why didn’t you get a used car….why new?”
Simple answer. Lots of the used cars with good gas mileage are about the same price as the Versa. Might as well get something new for the same price, so that’s what I did!
Now I’ve got a little commuter vehicle. More trips to Sedona and Flagstaff are in the future! And they won’t cost me tons of cash. Still, fill ups will be expensive, but I’ve more than doubled my mileage over the Titan.
The Titan will now be reserved for towing the Airstream and for off road adventures. It won’t sit idle permanently, but it will be used for what I really got it for. The “big fun” trips, not as a commuter vehicle.
Oh, and here’s the funny note. Last night after buying my Versa Honda called me. They’ve got a Fit in that I could look at……ah well, no worries. I got a great deal at Lamb and I’m happy with my new Nissan. If it’s anything like the Titan I’m going to love it! ![]()

soooo…what’s her name?
She’s beautiful!
congrats on the new wheels.
Dina,
Hey there. What’s her name you ask? Sadira suggested a name yesterday as she teased me……
I’m a fan of the TV Show “Heroes.” I don’t really watch TV except for that show….. In the show the character “Hiro” traveled in a Blue Nissan Versa, so Sadira has been teasing me about getting the Versa because of the show…..therefore the car’s name should be Hiro. Who knows, that might work!
We just got a Camry Hybrid for my wife, to replace her 4Runner. Many times we would take my F250 for around town trips, mainly because I like to drive my truck. No more. We use the Hybrid now. It is a game to see if it will give me an ‘Excellent!’ rating after the trip and to see how often I can drive without the gas engine (ICE) running. After we got it, I drove my truck so little I almost made 4 weeks between filling the truck up.
We all know why you got the NissanVersa…Hiro boy…that aside, I am SOSOSOSOSO excited about the new addition! You made a great choice…forget the Honda…She’s just wonderful and compliments the Titan so very well…She’s super sleek, cute, comfy, surprisingly roomy, was a fabulous deal, and all sorts of tricked out with the latest gadgets…
I mean, how great was it that we could BOTH talk to your family yesterday while we were driving around IN the car OVER the speakers?!?!?!
Gawds, I love technology…
Although, even though I adore Honey, I’m feeling a bit jealous…but, at least I get to ride around with you (even when I’m not physically IN the car, it’s like I am because I’m on speaker! And you KNOW how much an Aries likes to be on speaker…oh boy…just give me a microphone baby!)
Go Hiro
Pretty…shiny…new…
Congrats! She’s beautiful!
Me thinks Sadira likes the bluetooth… tee hee!
Oh…hahahaha! Sorry for more comment…but, I just noticed…
Is that the Crumpler laying all dejected looking by the back end of Hiro?!?!?
New wheels! How exciting! We used to have a Toyota Matrix (same ilk as the Versa and Fit) and loved it…you are going to really enjoy it…and the gas mileage!
Congratulations! Good choice in color to reflect the sun’s heat.
I thought you’d name it Joe… but Hiro fits better!
Cheers!
Hmmmmm……I’m thinking that JOE might work.
Wow. You are decisive. Good luck with your new wheels!
Keep us up to date on your experiences with the Versa. I like those little subcompact hatchbacks.
Dagny, I’ll let you know what I think of it! I’ve got an interview in Flagstaff next Tuesday, so we’ll see what the mileage will be. I realize I’m breaking it in, so it won’t be as good initially, but I’m still looking forward to the ride!
Does it have the CVT? CVT’s are sweeeeet. And for a compact, Versa’s have a lot of headroom for tallfolk.
Yup, the CVT. Pretty cool!
I “refilled” today just to see. 2.005 gallons……85 miles of driving!
