I usually don’t do memberships

Yesterday I skipped a blog entry. But the day before I posted twice. That should count for something, right?
So, what had my attention for the morning? I was looking into the NAPP. That’s the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Pretty interesting group, and I spent a while reading about them.
Now, I’m no “pro”, but I’d enjoy the label at some point. After reading through the NAPP’s information I decided they’d be a good group to help me work toward the pro label! 
You’ve got to start somewhere.
The reading fest got started thanks to the Worldwide Photowalk information I mentioned the other day. After reading about the walk I went to the NAPP site and signed up to be a walk leader for Prescott, AZ. I haven’t gotten word as to a thumbs up or down, but I’ll cross my fingers that Prescott can be an official location. That would be great.
If we don’t get a thumbs up that’s ok. I’ve already got a group of people who are interested in doing the walk. 5 now, not including myself. And I’ll be contacting the Yavapai Photo club as well because I’m sure several folks in the club would enjoy the event. So, either way, Prescott will have a bunch of folks roaming the streets with cameras on August 23rd. If we get “official” I’ll post the link, and those who are interested can officially sign up. If not I guess we’ll use an upcoming post for signups!
I should mention, Prescott has folks roaming the streets with cameras all the time. We get a lot of tourists here on a regular basis, and people really enjoy this town! Plus there’s so much to shoot here! From the Sharlot Hall Museum to the scenes of Whiskey Row, there’s a lot of material to work with!
So…….I know, I digress!
After a good deal of consideration I decided yesterday to sign up at the NAPP site. I’m a member now! I think the biggest bonus will be the subscription to Photoshop User Magazine that comes with membership. The only other magazine I get right now is Airstream Life. Now I’ll have one more magazine in the Airstream!
Here’s hoping you find that excuse for my missing post yesterday acceptable. If you don’t, well, not much we can do about that one!
As I finished writing this post I received another comment from a person interested in the Photowalk. That’s 6 for Prescott’s walk. We’ll definitely do it all!

NAPP will also be a good networking source for you. Good to know people in the biz. You never know when someone gets a “job” and can’t make it.

I agree with Lois…if you’re going to join something, it’s nice to do it and meet the kind of people you’d really like to meet in whatever you’re interested in..it makes networking very fun. And it seems like the NAPP has a lot of other great benefits that you can enjoy other than the chance to meet new people.
I personally think your photos just keep getting better and better and it makes me want to ask the question…exactly what are the criteria that makes one a “pro” photographer?
I believe that a magical glow surrounds you once you become a pro. Remember Bert Gildart’s visit? He had a glow around him. Well, I think it was a glow…..or maybe it was Janie behind him with a flashlight!
