After getting the photo walk approval the other evening I was pretty psyched! Prescott gets to participate in a fun global event, and maybe a few cool shots come out of it that will be seen around the world! Ah, fun!
Once excitement settles you get to the real stuff though. I just volunteered to take a bunch of folks around my favorite town! Eeek! We’re talking up to 50 people! That’s a lot of people!
Right now we’re at 13 sign ups! Not bad at all! More interesting…..it’s mostly folks I don’t know! Wow!!!!
Fortunately I’ve read through the photo walk explanation. Not a teaching event, I don’t need to be an expert on all the places. Just the organizer to bring people together for a fun day of photography. And Prescott is a great place to tour (in my opinion). Other than meeting up with everyone and starting the walk off there won’t be a huge amount of stuff for me to do.
Just to prep myself I decided to head into town yesterday morning and walk potential routes. My friend Tom sent a Google Map along with points of interest he’d like to cover. Thanks Tom, looked good indeed!
My first stop was Sharlot Hall Museum. Looked pretty good if you ask me. The flowers are in bloom (hope there will be some in August), the buildings are still cool, and I found a few subjects that I decided to try out as HDRs. Only 2 worked out, and one is posted here.
The weather was threatening for the morning, so I didn’t walk everywhere. Several times it began to sprinkle and I put the camera away and headed back to the car. The sprinkling would stop, I’d reconsider things, and the sprinkling would start again.
Go figure, no downpours yesterday at all!
Glad to say we’ve got a couple of weeks before the event. If anyone has must see items for the walk let me know! I’ll go check them out, or I’m sure other readers will as well. I think the best part of all of this will be meeting more folks who enjoy photographing this area, and Arizona in general! ![]()

The walk sounds like fun!
Moving to a new campground tomorrow. Loving the nomadic life!
:-D)
Have you talked to Sharlot hall, to make sure that groups are kosher?
