Thanks all for the comments. I’ve gotten several private e-mails on this subject today as well. Looks like we’re breaking with the old and building something new!

The new blog is up, the first post has been written and published, and the finishing touches are still being completed. I still have a lot to do on the main site, but that will come with time.

It’s a shame though to close the door on this site. My last post was number 956. Only 44 posts away from 1000! Wouldn’t that have been fun? Ah well, we’ll restart the count at “The Airstream Chronicles Continued…”

Watching you rise from the ashes like the phoenix , soaring with the joy of your photography, making new friends, having fun exploring exciting options, and establishing a life in Prescott warrants a change. You have graduated and what better way to do this than to start a new. I agree with Tombo and Lois, start fresh without having to worry about the tainted data that might have contaminated your other links. Merging all of the topics of your other links into one will reflect a gestalt of who you are.

I say dump the hacked and start fresh. If you are interested in archival, then copy the existing blog to a different site (richcharpentier.com/oldblog or something like that) and just point to it with a button in the sidebar. At least that is what I would do.

Pics look good, but what is going on with the waterfall in that last one? Odd shadows playing in there.

Great HDR! Love the last photo of rain falling on the distant ridge of the Grand Canyon. Pretty hard to get a bad picture at the scenic Grand Canyon. The clouds and rain enhance the scenery.

It was fun wasn’t it? Thank you for saving me from being pushed into the Canyon, as I hadn’t remembered to pack my parachute, and I was trying to protect the camera…ahhhh! I had such a great surprise day off…and I am looking forward to camping and hiking soon as well…I can’t imagine what it’s like down in the Canyon (seeing as I’ve only been about a mile and a half down at the farthest point) and I’m sure the crowds thin out the further you go…

IX hosting is a real joke. GoDaddy is pretty good, or even Network Solutions, if you’re looking for a third-party hoster. A touch more expensive than IX, but well worth the difference in price…

Wandrin….to your questions first. The power line was quickly buffed out with Photoshop’s healing brush. Just a few minutes to buff out small imperfections, or in this case, a power line! The blue sky in the window was left on purpose. I selected the sky as a whole, made a new layer, and altered the Hue of the sky alone. I then created one more layer and used the paint brush tool to paint in only one window. Just having a little fun!!!

I could reduce the halos further, and I will. The issue is that when you process a photo and generate an HDR Haloing occurs. The less light smoothing and more grunge you allow into the photo, the bigger the halos. It’s a trade off.

Dagny….Hey there! Yup, wanted to push it after checking out Ben Willmore’s cool video! I can’t say I’ve ever experienced an acid trip, but many people who’ve seen HDR stuff say it’s the same as a trip. Hmmm…..

Hey Paul. Nice to meet you. Wow, I haven’t heard the term “flatlanders” since I lived in NH. Folks in the North Country always referred to everyone else as a flatlander. Never quite understood the dig, but they had fun with the reference.

Cameras aren’t HDR supported. HDR is a process that takes place by combining photos afterward. You can do it with most any camera you can think of, provided it’s digital.

I think the point of the photo walk is to meet other people who enjoy the same thing. Like the blog fests that take place regularly in this town, or folks going to rodeos, or people out enjoying what the town has to offer. Personally I think it should be fun. My apologies for the concept offending you so.
